About Emdash

Emdash is a cloud-first platform for coding agents, built for engineering teams.

Use any model in any harness. Bring your existing subscriptions and spend commitments, or buy inference through us. Run agents on your own servers, locally, or on our hosted sandboxes. Start and manage work from desktop, web, mobile, Slack or Linear. Share managed environments, secrets, skills and MCPs across the company, with controls over access, usage and spend.

We started Emdash with the conviction that development would move to orchestrating coding agents, across providers. With our new version, we’re focused on remote agent execution and the needs of larger engineering teams. It's currently in beta with our first customers, many of them companies we met through our open-source desktop app. We've raised a sizeable seed round and are now growing the team.

What you'll work on

As a Member of Technical Staff, you'll join our core team and own features end to end: product decisions, implementation, and keeping them reliable once customers depend on them. Current challenges include:

• Product engineering: Making a complex platform feel simple. We’re building out a broad product surface and need to maintain the reliability an enterprise expects.
• Runtime and compute: Build reproducible environments on VMs and containers, running on customer infrastructure or in our hosted sandboxes on bare metal.
• Platform: Security, reliability and performance across secret management, policy enforcement, and usage and spend controls.
• Inference: Gateway across providers, subscriptions and spend commitments. Build toward running inference ourselves.
• Integration Surfaces: Connect Emdash to the tools developers already use: source control, productivity, deployment, secrets management and observability. Give agents the context they need and let teams build automations across those tools.

Our Stack:

We build with TypeScript and React, Rust and Tokio, and Nix/NixOS. Our backend runs on Cloudflare Workers, and our agent runtimes span VMs and containers across local and cloud infrastructure.

Who you are

• You’re comfortable deep in Linux and have built or operated infrastructure - from containers and VMs to networking and storage.
• You have an eye for UX and care about making complex systems feel simple to use.
• You’ve shipped developer tools; experience building tools for coding agents is a big plus.
